Our story
Some taonga choose you. Golden Arpbellz was born in Kaikohe, in the heart of Northland Bay of Islands, in December 2019. Founded by Hinemoa Rose with her little shop opened just weeks before the world closed with Covid-19. In that quiet, uncertain time, she remembered why taonga mattered. They ground us, they protect us, they connect us to our whenua and our whakapapa. Her vision was loud & clear she wanted to be different from everyone else!

The beginnings of Golden Arpbellz
Some taonga choose you. Golden Arpbellz was born in Kaikohe, in the heart of Northland Bay of Islands, in December 2019. Founded by Hinemoa Rose with her little shop opened just weeks before the world closed with Covid-19. In that quiet, uncertain time, she remembered why taonga mattered. They ground us, they protect us, they connect us to our whenua and our whakapapa. Hinemoa rose has worked with Carvers all over the Motu - her vision was loud & clear she wanted to be different from everyone else, and she did it! One of the first Wahine in the Northland to showcase Carvers and Artist to the world which had no meaning other than survival after Covid19!
Her dedication working alongside carvers was a turning point for the business without the help of those that stayed loyal became a well-known trusted business for clients to enjoy the changes of an ever-growing industry!
Golden Arpbellz is well known especially in The Northland where life got a whole lot better & a whole lot happier! Hinemoa-rose like so many other businesses have had her hardships, sometimes wanting to throw it all in but when you hear of beautiful stories of how each Taonga that has been sold throughout the years has changed someone else's life, that's when it hits deep and meaningful that is what kept Hinemoa-rose going she never gave up, 7 years later the business is now getting its recognition and growing. Running a business has its moments, the best thing to do, when things start to feel imbalanced is to stop - take a deep breath even a break (not to long) then refocus with a renewed mind, shake it off with a Prayer.
With Every piece of Taonga has its own Wairua & its own story. Art is chosen and Taonga carved with purest intention, always walking in the light – not mass produced,

Taking Care of Your Taonga in honor of its Status to the wearer!
Cleaning, Wearing & storage Pounamu is one of the most durable stones in the world. A piece of Greenstone Jeweler still deserves care, whether you've been gifted a pendant, inherited a family taonga, or recently purchased a carving, knowing how to look after Pounamu properly will ensure it remains beautiful and meaningful for a lifetime of Generations to carry your legacy on.
This guide covers the essentials how to clean Pounamu safely, the best way to wear it and how to store it when it's not being worn. The good news is that Pounamu care is straightforward - the stone asks very little & rewards attentiveness with a lasting deepening beauty.
How to clean Pounamu Greenstone is best cleaned with fresh water and a soft cloth. After wearing, a gentle rinse removes any sweat, salt. or oils that have accumulated on the surface. Pat the stone dry with a lint free cloth-avoid rubbing, as abrasive cloths can dull the polished surface over time. For stubborn grime around a chord or mount, a soft toothbrush with warm water works well.
AVOID USING: Chemical Cleaners detergents, or ultrasonic cleaners on Pounamu. These can affect the cord or mount rather than the stone itself - so the risk is NOT WORTH TAKING! Similarly, avoid exposing
Pounamu to Chlorine (Swimming Pools) or salt water for extended periods, as natural fiber cords and metal fittings can tarnish.
THE BEST WAY TO HONOUR THE STONE: In moari tradition, Pounamu is meant to be worn close to the body. The warmth of the skin contact is said to bring the stone to life, and over time a well-worn piece develops a subtle patina, a softness and depth that comes from years of contact with its wearer. This is considered a mark of the piece's history and a sign it has been properly honored. Most Pounamu pendants are worn on a cord rather than a chain, which allows the stone to sit naturally against the chest. Check your cord regularly for signs of wear or fraying, especially the knot near the stone. Many Carvers offer a re-cording services, and replacing a worn cord is far better than risking the stone being lost or dropped and smashed.
